Who We Are

Kelvin Lewin

Kelvin Lewin purchased Select Service Caterers of Fine Foods Inc. in 2001 after working for the company for nearly two years. Select Service was established in 1986. Kelvin moved the commissary from the original location on Park Street in Kitchener to Cherry Blossom Road in Cambridge. The facilities are larger and much more suitable for catering.  Kelvin "brings the world" to the kitchen of Select, having lived in and experienced the cultures of England, India, The Netherlands, Germany, New Zealand, The Philippines, France and of course Canada.

After acquiring a BSc in psychology and completing two years of post graduate studies during the globe trotting phase, Kelvin completed the chef training program at George Brown College in Toronto and the apprenticeship portion at Langdon Hall Country House Hotel and Spa in Cambridge, Ontario. Chef Kelvin holds the red seal certification (interprovincial trade certificate), the National Sanitation program certification, is Smart Serve certified and a proud member of Canadian Restaurant and Food Association,  Canadian Federation of Independent Business.

Kelvin will be behind the scenes at your event ensuring that the "back of the house" runs smoothly.

Victoria Lewin

Victoria used to work full-time at Select Service, but has moved to a full time hospitality position elsewhere with "normal" hours, but still is involved in large events and weddings.  She has been behind the scenes since Kelvin first purchased the business.  As offsite catering manager at events, Victoria's passion is in the details - consulting and planning with clients, keeping track of orders, arranging for all staff and outside vendor coordination, and leading the front of house team at large events and weddings.

Victoria completed the Hospitality Management - Food and Beverage diploma course through Conestoga College, with a year and a half spent at Niagara College in a similar program.  Victoria has been certified with the Wedding Planner Institute of Canada since 2006, is Smart Serve certified, and a proud member of the Canadian Restaurant and Food Association.  Victoria is also an active volunteer with the Business Education Partnership, speaking to students of all ages about her career path choices and passion for the hospitality industry, as well as the Sector Advisory Council for Hospitality and Tourism programs within the Waterloo Region District School Board.

Victoria will be leading the front of house team at some major events.  You can rest assured that the person you make all of your plans with is there at your event, from start to finish.

Our Event Team

Depending on how large your party is, you may see as few as two of us or as many as 35 of us.  Our staff are all hand-selected to represent us and to provide you with the best possible service.  All of our staff are employees of Select Service, they are not sourced from a temporary staffing agency, and we pay WSIB premiums to ensure you have no concerns with workplace injuries.  Our event staff are hand-selected for each event, and Victoria personally trains every new staff member to meet our high standards of service.
